Reflecting On Your Study Progression

In this session the aim was to reflect on my studies from last year, and gather whether my attitude towards this has changed this year. I was presented with a series of questions which I had to answer individually in a sentence based on my reflection.

Topic: "Think back to last year, consider the whole academic year; your confidence, your attitude to learning, the work itself"

1.  a. How do I feel now and what has changed?
This year I feel I am more focused and know what I am doing. I am on top of my work and am still finding my style.

b. What would I do differently?
I could improve my time management through juggling the project work and the course work as well as the time at my job.

2.   a. Think about my learning progression, my personal and social development: What skills have I acquired?
I have greater confidence in the programs I am using to create my work and I also feel that my communication skills have improved through talking in groups and sharing ideas.
I also find more things give me inspiration with in work.

b. What areas would I like to improve on?
I would like to improve my theory side of the course as I don't believe I am a good with essay writing, although my dyslexia doesn’t help me yet this is a big part of my course.

3.  a. Be self critical; what have I learnt about myself?
I have learnt that I will only achieve my goals if I stay fully committed, and don't put anything before my work and although I have the potential I don’t work to my full potential.

b. What am I most proud of?
I am most proud of how my work isn’t just one style right now and im being a sponge and taking all sorts of things in. I have changed in quality since my time in school and I like that have learnt about graphics and designers more since then.

4.  a. At the start of the second year what concerns me?
The workload was the thing I was most concerned about and balancing the uni work with my job.

b. What steps have I taken to overcome this?
I am overcoming the workload through setting myself targets for each day, on what work I will have completed and also quitting my job as I wasn’t having time to do the best of my work abilities.

5.  a. What excites me about the course?
The biggest thing that excites me about the course at the moment is the opportunity of doing a placement in the third year, and furthering my talents and looking at my portfolio I’ve seen that my work for myself and to do with clients is better then the course projects..

b. What steps are in place for me to achieve my aims?

I know that i can always receive help from the university, I also find that with my main project is to not to stress over little things.
